Mother’s Day Scenes

I’m officially on record opposing holidays that are all about guilt, with Mother’s Day leading the pack.  At the same time, proving my ability to take a stand on both sides of a position at once, I enjoy the special treatment I get on Mother’s day.  Who wouldn’t like this display, made by Basketball Girl?

Here’s the highlight of our Mother’s Day lunch:

And we always go to my favorite place, the beach on the Pacific Ocean outside Point Reyes.  And hardly anyone complains (more than five or ten times) when we go for a walk on the cliff above the beach. At this time of year, the hills are carpeted with wildflowers.

But the ocean is always the same.

That bouquet is beautiful— Basketball girl did a great job. I’m glad you had a good Mother’s Day Christine!

The sad thing is, I don’t even like root beer. My mother used to make us Black Cows (midwestern name for root beer floats) as a special treat, but it meant nothing to me. What’s wrong with me??
