People who pronounce Greenwich Village “Green-witch village.” You wouldn’t think that a girl growing up in northern California would run into this phenomenon very often, but the day after she said this, we actually saw a Woody Allen movie (Sleeper) where a character pronounced Greenwich Village in exactly this way. I have to report that she didn’t seem ALL that annoyed.
