Sunday was my birthday. And not just any birthday — a Big Birthday.  I’m starting a new decade, and in keeping with the adventurous spirit proper to this kind of occasion, I agreed to let Basketball Girl dye my hair.  I’ve always wanted auburn hair like my mother’s, but I’m much too lazy to go to all the trouble of maintaining a dye job.  So this may be a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

So, how’d it come out?

Your mother’s hair was auburn? Is this the same Christine I’ve known for the last …. years, since her teeny-weeny self was born??? Auburn???

Well, Happy Birthday. Your mother started law school when she turned that age.
